Itinerary

DAY 1: VISIT ZÜRICH AND LOVELY LUCERNE.

Welcome to Switzerland, popularly known as the Land of Alps. As the name suggests, it’s an enchanting winter wonderland of frozen waterfalls, peaceful cosy villages, snow-laden forests and imposing mountain ranges which are crowned by famous peaks. You arrive at the Zurich airport and at 9:30 and 13:30, you will leave for your hotel in Lucerne. A scrumptious Welcome Dinner with good food and wine awaits you. So, do not miss to join your Travel Director and fellow guests at 18:00 by any chance.

DAY 2 – VISIT LUCERNE AND ST. MORITZ.

The morning will start off right and it will look just perfect to you-calm, cool and relaxed. Lucerne is a beautiful 14th century city still protected by medieval fortifications. While you will experience the city, your Travel Director will reveal the covered wooden bridges, the painted gables and the sorrowful Lion Monument. Before heading along the dramatic Walensee, past Chur, to the fashionable ski resort of St. Moritz, it’s time for you to take delight in the excellent shops and lakeside walks. So, set in the sparkling Engadine Valley which is an elegant resort nestling below the awe-inspiring, majestic Grisons Alps.

DAY 3 – VISIT ST. MORITZ AT LEISURE.

Another relaxed morning to start off! The idea of savouring a late breakfast might please you because this day is completely at leisure. Later in the day, you may either choose to explore the spa quarter of this chic resort, see the houses with their traditional sgraffito facades or indulge in the stylish boutiques. Bernina Express has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and so you may even consider joining the express for a scenic rail journey of epic proportion.

DAY 4 – ABOARD THE GLACIER EXPRESS.

This day, you will enjoy a spectacular ride through the heart of the Swiss Alps once you board the world famous Glacier Express. What makes this ride more attractive is that it comes along with inviting lunch. Your ride will then descend through the tunnels of the Albula Pass and traverse the lofty Landwasser Viaduct. Before climbing through snowy pastures and woodlands, your train joins the broad Rhine Gorge and meanders beside rock-strewn rivers. You’ll glide by picturesque landscapes of ice-capped mountains and stone-built villages with chalet-style houses. After a series of spirals, you will reach the icy Oberalp Pass which is the highest point of the route. There are modern, panoramic viewing cars which ensure that you won’t miss a thing on your descent to Andermatt and down the Rhône Valley. After a great ride, you will disembark in Brig around mid-afternoon.

DAY 5 -VISIT ZERMATT, MATTERHORN VILLAGE.

As you follow the narrow valley which leads to Täsch, you will be awed by the dramatic Swiss scenery. This is the time for you to leave the coach so that you can board the cogwheel train. This will take you to the traffic-free haven of Zermatt which is situated at the foot of the Matterhorn. You have a variety of options at this place. You can either wander along its cobbled streets to browse among the shops, explore the ancient wooden farmhouses and mazot barns in the back alleys, or visit the Matterhorn Museum to pass through the homes of yesteryear. If you do not suffer from acrophobia, then you may like to board the cable car up the Klein Matterhorn. If the weather permits, you should gaze at the incredible views of the icebound Swiss Alps from the summit. Now, it’s time for you to return to your hotel in Brig. The remaining day will be a leisure time for you.

DAY 6 – CHILLON CASTLE AND GENEVA.

This day, you’ll be travelling along the Lower Rhône Valley to the shores of Lake Geneva. Here, the associations with the early European Romantic movement are very strong. This is the moment for you to go to the beautiful former home to the Counts of Savoy – the Chillon Castle which is set on a rocky islet in the lake. Following Lord Byron’s walk through the underground prisons, this castle had inspired Lord Byron to write the poem ‘The Prisoner of Chillon’ in 1816. He has carved his name in a pillar, so make sure to look for it. The sophisticated tiered town of Montreux is near the castle. It is delightful to stroll along the lakeside promenade of this town. While reaching the immaculate town of Geneva, you will enjoy a beautiful journey alongside the lake, passing Vevey and Lausanne. On arrival, your orientation includes the United Nations Building, officially known as the Palais des Nations, the Old Town, Reformation Monument and if operating, the Jet d’Eau. You will spend the night at Geneva where you will rejoice with your newfound friends at the local restaurant named Le Petit Chalet. At this restaurant, you will be treated to a delicious, traditional fondue Celebration Dinner complete with wine.

DAY 7 – DEPART GENEVA.

In the morning after breakfast, your magical journey comes to an end. At 8:00 or 10:00, your shift will arrive at Geneva airport.
